After our exciting trip to Tunisia early in 2022 (click here for that page), we knew we wanted to explore neighboring Algeria as well. But the country is not quite as open and accessible, so we waited till the end of the year to return to the north of Africa.

We spent about a week in the capital Algiers, before we set off to see the rest of the country.

Our itinerary included:

  • Algiers
    • Casbah, museums
    • Tipasa and Cherchell
    • Mosque, Basilica, Botanic Garden etc.
  • Oran
  • Tlemcen
  • Timimoun
  • El Goléa
  • Ghardaia and the Pentapole of M’Zab
  • Constantine, “City of Bridges”
  • Tiddis
  • Annaba – Hippone, Basilica of Saint Augustine
  • Guelma, Hammam Meskoutine
  • Timgad – Lambèze
  • Berber Villages of Rhouffi canyon
  • Batna
  • Djémila
  • Sétif – Kalaa of Beni Hammad
